Vegroll Willow Bundle

Our Vegroll willow bundle is an innovative product GBR developed, designed to enhance survival, provide easy installation, and offer year round availability of rooted cuttings for bank stabilization techniques that traditionally rely on the use of dormant cuttings. Applications include installation between encapsulated soil lifts, vertical installation in trenches, and placement along the water's edge in combination with biodegradable 'logs'.

To construct our Vegrolls, we place cuttings or rooted willow plugs in growth medium that is sandwiched in a folded piece of thin biodegradable erosion blanket. Willows are commonly spaced one foot apart and other species such as dogwood may be included in the mix. The resulting Vegroll is cut in approximately thirty foot lengths, rolled up and placed in a plastic tub. In approximately 8 to 12 weeks, the willows will be fully rooted to the base of the blanket.

The resulting product is available for installion at any time of year. The growth medium includes a slow release fertilizer that will support it until successful establishment. Upon delivery, the Vegroll is unrolled on or adjacent to the installation site which facilitates quick installation.
